The Pyrenees mountain range on the border between France and Spain are well known among all cycling fanatics. Experience a fantastic cycling journey and cycle from Barcelona all the way through the Pyrenees to the beautiful city of San Sebastian.

From the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea in 7-8 stages along the main climbs all over the Pyrenees. Cycling in Catalonia and the Spanish/French Pyrenees. During this Classic Climbs of the Pyrenees cycling tour you will face all those famous cols of the Tour de France history.

The Pyrenees is a real cycling paradise for every keen cyclist. The Tour can fully customize according to your needs.
On your first days your ride out of Barcelona and facing Col like Col Formic and Coll de la Creueta less known but with spectacular mountain roads and great views. Soon you will reach the French Pyrenees, just a pick of which mountain passes you need to tackle! Col du Tourmalet, Col d’Aspin, Col de Peyresourde, , Col du Marie Blanque, Bagneres de Luchon Jaizkibel, and much more top class climbs  are waiting for you!

The trip is only suitable for fit and serious cyclist who dreams of riding the cols of the Tour de France. You’ll cycle over quite country side roads through typical Spanish and French Pyrenees villages. The rides are spectacular with breath-taking passes and majestic mountain scenery. This tour has been specially designed for you, the passionate road cyclist. The Classic Climbs of the Pyrenees tour is open for cyclists with a high fitness level.

Day 1
Barcelona - San Julia de Vilatorta 100km
Your first cycling day starts from Barcelona to San Julia de Vilatorta.About 100 km to get out of Barcelona taking the bike lane beside river Besos, and afterwards leading to Montseny area, where you will climb the nicest Col in the area: Col Formic. Solitaire roads, great views, ideal for cycling. The first big mountain of the trip is at 1145 mts.
Day 2
San Julia de Vilatorta - Puigcerdà 125km
San Julia de Vilatorta to Puigcerdà. Today you will climb a precious col, not well known, although Volta a Catalunya pro race has been there several times. Coll de la Creueta, an espectacular mountain road with great views. Arrival in Puigcerdà, capital of Cerdanya area. You are already in the Pyrenees!
Day 3
Puigcerdà-Valencia d’Aneu 130km
This cycling day will give you the taste of the real beauty of the Pyrenees. Puigcerdà-Valencia d’Aneu. Long stage, about 130 km, including Coll de Cantó, a tough climb, but once at the top, the main difficulties are done.
Day 4
Valencia d’Aneu-Bagneres de Luchon 109km
Valencia d’Aneu-Bagneres de Luchon. No warm up and already a big climb: Port de la Bonaigua, over 2000 mts, a big one! Once in the valley (Vall d’Aran) you enter France via Col du Portillon, a short but steep climb. Arriving to Bagneres de Luchon, the strongest will climb to Superbagneres, a long and steep climb included several times in Tour de France.
Day 5
Bagneres de Luchon-Campan 123 km
Bagneres de Luchon-Campan, 123 km. Col de Peyresourde (including the famous crep restaurant at the top!) and Col d’Aspin are the difficulties of the trip. For die hard guys we include Port de Bales at the start of the stage. One of the toughest climbs all over the Pyrenees!
Day 6
Campan-Tourmalet-Aubisque-Bielle 111 km
Today the Col du Tourmalet and the Aubisque are on your program. The legendary Col du Tourmalet: first included in the TDF in 1910 and was nicknamed "Circle of death”. This Pyrenees super climb is where the legendary rider Octave Lapize called race officials "assassins" as he negotiated the mountain in its Tour debut. At the peak of the Tourmalet, a monument honours race founder Henri Desgrange. Good luck!
Day 7
Bielle-Saint Jean de Pied de Port 128km
The trip is not over! This stage is even harder than yesterday! After Col du Marie Blanque (optional), you will have to climb Pierre St Martin (from Arette), Chalet d’Iraty and Burdinkurutxeta, to get to St Jean du Pied de Port, end of the stage. The medieval town of Saint Jean de Pied de Port is an important pilgrims stop on the way to Santiago de Compostela.
Day 8
Saint Jean de Pied de Port-San Sebastian 118km
Saint Jean de Pied de Port-San Sebastian. The last stage includes still 3 climbs. The last one if the famous Jaizkibel, included every year in Clasica San Sebastián in August. Fantastic views from the top, and then just the final descent to San Sebastián!
day 9
Departure day
Departure day…..Time to say goodbye, a good flight back home or a pleasant stay in France. Transfers to the airports of San Sebastian or Barcelona on request


  • France’s main airports in Paris are Charles de Gaulle and Orly International Airport. There are many flights: to/from Europe
  • Biarritz Airport in the southwest of France is called in full Biarritz “Anglet Bayonne “The airport is the gateway to the western Pyrenees and the Basque Countries in Spain. The airport is mainly serviced by budget companies, but Air France also carries out scheduled flights from Paris Orly, Charles de Gaulle and many other destinations in France like Marseille or Nice


  • There are regular fares between Paris and Biarritz/Marseille Railway stations. The Airport train stations are located below Charles de Gaulle and Orly International Airport. Almost every hour trains leave to/from Biarritz/Marseille.
  • Paris’s main Railway station is Gare du Nord. From here all trains connect you to almost every destination in France. From Lyon’s main Railway station it’s only a one and a half hour ride to Marseille. Trains also depart from main Railway station Lyon Part Dieu and from airport train station Saint Exupéry to Marseille
