Bienvenue en Belgique and welkom in België. Watch and ride the Ardennes Classics; Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Cycling in Belgium and especially the Ardennes are famous for steep climbs and tough winding bends. Cycle Belgium and you'll be able to smell the clean, fresh air of the Ardennes. Jump on your bike and ride Belgium. Immerse yourself in one of Belgiums most beautiful region ; the Ardennes.

Discover and cycle the Ardennes; rolling hills, beautiful valleys, ancient towns and local gastronomic specialities. The Liège-Bastogne-Liège (La Doyenne) UCI World Tour Classic first edition took place in 1892. Liège-Bastogne-Liège is one of the five cycle monuments. LBL is the toughest race with very difficult climbs, winding roads and rolling hills. Due to the late winter the race sometimes was affected by snow and therefore Liège-Bastogne-Liège is a first class challenger.
Itinerary Lìege - Bastogne - Lìege 2019
Check in around 14.00 at your 3* hotel Mabi in Maastricht. For those who want to have a railway station pick up please contact us. Late aftrernoon there will be a briefing and bike fitting. The tour leader will explain the coming activities and itinerary for this Lìege- Bastogne - Lìege - Ardennes Tour.
For you cycling freaks who like to go that extra mile! Join us today with many other cycling fanatics. Directly after our breakfast you head to the start in Lìege. You will receive an Itinerary, a registration chip and at the finishing line a “Gold Medal". During your Cyclo experience you will be provided with plenty of sport-drinks, snacks and fruit. There’s always technical and medical assistance on the route. The former editions have been a great success. This event always takes place one day before the professional Liège-Bastogne-Liège Classic race. Cycling the Ardennes is riding tough and steep climbs. Feel the atmosphere and enjoy the fantastic views. It certainly is a life time experience!!! You can choose the challenging 273 km, the 156 or the easy 75km. Note: it’s not a race. After the race pick in Lìege and transfer back to your hotel in Maastricht. Evening at leisure.
Today is racing day so get up early!. After breakfast you head to Liège city centre (Place Saint-Lambert) to see the riders signing in and how they prepare themselves for the most important Ardennes classic. After the start you continue your way through the Ardennes to see the riders live in action. The last stop will be at on Côte de Sant - Nicolas. There you will watch the Stage live on a big screen and of course you will see the riders passing the finishing line. Who will be the strongest this year? After the race you go back to Maastricht. Evening dinner will be provided.
Departure day…..Time to say goodbye, a good flight back home or else a pleasant stay in Belgium or Holland. Transfers to the Railway station in Maastricht will be made by our tour guide(s).
Belgium’s and Holland’s main airport are Zaventem International Airport and Schiphol International Airport. There are many flights to and from Madrid,Paris Charles de Gaulle, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Berlin, Rome, London Heathrow, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Athens, Zurich and many more very important cities from all around the Globe. Another important airport in Belgium is Charleroi International Airport. Ryanair has a lot of flights to/ from Charleroi like Rome, Barcelona, Manchester and Milan. Eindhoven Airport, only 90 kilometres from Maastricht has regular flights between Eindhoven and many important cities in Europe. Dusseldorf International Airport is also an option and has many flights to /from European cities like Zurich,Madrid, Milan, Dublin, London Heathrow, Prague, Lyon and several other destinations. Maastricht has a small airport with flights to/from Berlin, Moscow and Milan.
The Airport’s train stations are located below Zaventem’s International Airport and Schiphol International Airport. From Zaventem’s Internatoinal Airport, there are 4 to 5 trains an hour to/from Brussels North, Brussels Central and the main station Brussels Midi. From here all trains connect you to several destinations in Belgium and to Maastricht Railway Station.Trains from Schiphol International Airport to Maastricht Railway station are running every half an hour and the train ride takes two and an half hour.
The Thalys (fast train between Paris and Amsterdam) has frequent fares, at least every half an hour between Paris Gare du Nord - Lille - Brussels Midi- Antwerp- Rotterdam – Amsterdam. The Eurostar (train which connects Great Britain to Continental Europe) from/ to London has up to 9 fares per day.
