TDF Grand Depart Italy 2024 Ride & Watch

The race for yellow will start on 29th June in the stunning city of Florence. Italy is known for its stunning landscapes, world-famous cuisine, and cycling roads that host a Grand Tour and two monuments of their own. The Giro d’Italia, Milan San Remo, and Il Lombardia are some of the biggest races on the calendar. It’s no wonder the tour has decided to start in Italy!

The peloton will leave Florence, taking a route that leads to the coastal city of Rimini, situated on the Adriatic coast. Stage 2 leaves Cesenatico, heading back across the country to Bologna, where the peloton will do laps of a city center circuit. From Bologna, the Tour will head to Turin, where the Alps appear in the northwest of the city.

This tour starts in Florence on Thursday 27th June, so you can watch the team presentation. You will then be able to ride some of the routes whilst following the race. You will experience the race from the roadside, ride on some incredible Italian roads, and enjoy the fantastic Italian cuisine.

Day 1
Thursday June 27
Arrival Hotel: Ambasciatori Hotel (half board basis) Meals: Dinner at Hotel Today’s Ride: Bike fitting at the hotel
  • Watch live the Team Presentations in Florence.
  • Explore the stunning city of Florence
  • Arrive in Florence, transfer to the hotel, and meet and greet in the afternoon at the hotel, depart on foot as a group to watch the Team Presentations live.
Day 2
Friday 28 June
Hotel: Ambasciatori Hotel (half board basis) Meals: Breakfast and dinner at the Hotel.
  • Following breakfast depart the hotel by bike to ride out to Rada in Chianti taking in views of the beautiful landscape. This will be a great chance to get familiar with your bike and roll out the legs.
  • In the afternoon enjoy a guided city tour.
  • AM – Ride the Chianti hills
  • PM –  TBC
  • Today’s Ride: 100km 1600M
Day 3
Saturday June 29 Florence - Bologna
Hotel: Bologna de la Gare (half board basis) Meals: Breakfast and dinner at the Hotel.
  • Today the 2024 Tour de France will commence with the stage starting in Florence. You’ll enjoy a leisurely morning before we regroup at the hotel and walk to the start area to Watch Stage 1 depart from Piazzale Michelangelo in the center of Florence. Once the race has departed you will head out to Barberino de Mugello to start today's ride. You will climb up the Futa Pass, a famous climb in Appennino. The route will then take you back down into Bologna.
  • Arrive in Bologna early evening and enjoy dinner at the hotel.
Day 4
Sunday June 30 Bologna
Hotel: Bologna de la Gare (half board basis) Meals: Breakfast and dinner at the Hotel.
  • You'll depart the hotel after breakfast and follow a route where you will ride the last 40km of the Tour de France Stage. Then be in a great position to see the finish of the race on the final climb on the San Luca. After the race, a tour of Bologna.
  • Today’s Ride: 40km | 1150m Climbing
Day 5
Monday July 1 Bologna to Turin
Hotel: Novotel Torino Corso Giulio Cesare (half board basis) Meals: Breakfast, Dinner at Hotel
  • Depart the hotel in Bologna and drive to the spectacular Monferrato hills. You will ride a circular route of 80km starting and finishing in Alba.
  • Here is where we will see the Tour de France come past.
  • We will finish the day with an evening meal at the hotel.
Day 6
Tuesday July 2 Departure
Transfer that will take you to Milan Malpensa Airport this will leave at 08:00 am to arrive at the airport at 10:00 in time for any flights departing from midday onwards. If you prefer there are evening flights from Turin airport. Depending on your flight time or if you wish to extend your trip an extra night, you could watch stage 4 depart in Turin *Please note when booking the flight you will arrive in Florence and will depart from either Milan or Turin*
