Day 1
Friday
Please make your own arrangements to arrive at Milan Bergamo Airport. Transfer from the airport at 11.30. Please book a flight that lands before 10.30, to allow you to get through passport control and collect your luggage. The transfer takes approximately 3 hours to Bormio. You can bring your own bike as it's no problem to transport bike boxes on airport transfers. The mechanic will be available at the hotel to assist you with fitting your bike. Bikes can be safely stored at the hotel.
  • Hotel Nevada in Bormio. The hotel is located within minutes of the start of the Gran Fondo. The hotel is booked on a Half Board basis, with breakfasts and evening meals included. You will also have free access to the following:
  • Access to the Spa and Wellness centre
  • Laundry service for cycling kit
  • Secure bike store
  • In the afternoon, the first ride; a 25km guided ride to Bormio 2000.
Day 2
Saturday
  • After breakfast and any final bike adjustments, you will be taken on a supported, guided ride. A short coffee spin will be organized to keep your legs moving, but nothing too strenuous the day before the sportive. We propose a shorter ride to the Cancano, nicknamed the ‘Mini Stelvio’.
  • Registration & Expo Race pack collection and preparation for the Gran Fondo. The expo is just a short walk from our hotel. This afternoon and early evening, our tour leaders and bike mechanics are available for you.
  • Race Briefing
  • This evening our bike guides will do a race briefing to run through GF Stelvio race day logistics and of course the route.
  • Evening meal together at the hotel.
  • Be aware that you’ll need a medical certificate. For the 151km route, you need a valid race license.
Day 3
Sunday
Gran Fondo Stelvio Santini! Today is the day! You have an early start this morning. Early breakfasts are arranged in the hotel restaurant. It’s just a short rollout from our hotel to the start line. Please make your own way to the start this morning, based on your own start time. The staff will be on hand this morning if you have any last-minute mechanical issues, or if you need directions to the start line. At the finish it can be very cold, even in June. With this in mind, the staff will be at the finish line with the support van, so you can have a day bag waiting for you for when you finish. You can place some warmer, winter clothes in there for your descent ride back to Bormio. You will have an evening meal together at the hotel this evening, where you can share tales of your exploits.
Day 4
Monday
There is one airport transfer to Milan Malpensa today. Depart from the hotel at 08.00, for flights departing from Milan Malpensa after 13.30 (allowing for a 3.5-hour transfer and 2-hour check-in). If you book a flight at any other time, either earlier or later, please contact us directly to discuss private transfer options.
