From here you conquer all great & tough climbs with breath-taking views! The cycling days are guided climbs with an experienced cycling guide. Climb and descend many incredible mountain summits of the Giro d’Italia. Day 1 Sunday

Check in at the hotel around 14.00. If you require an airport transfer from Milan Linate/Malpensa or from the train station in Tirano to the hotel please contact us. Welcome Happy hour by "Ugo's" at 19.30. Welcome Dinner à la carte at 20.00 will be provided. Spa will be free of charge during your stay. Grand Hotel Bagni Nuovi***** di Bormio (part of Bagni di Bormio spa resort). A jewel of Art Nouveau architecture with 74 rooms, almost all with bathrooms featuring whirlpool baths with water from the mineral springs and color therapy. Many rooms offer a breath-taking view of the Alps of Bormio and the Stelvio ski run. Equipped with a spa and wellness center of approximately 11,000 square meters.

Day 2 Monday

Bormio – Umbrail Pass- S. Maria – Prato – Stelvio Pass – Bormio

Passo dello Stelvio Loop ride with van support. DISTANCE: 102 km (63 miles) Climbing meters 3150mts. The epic Stelvio… This is one of the ultimate challenges for amateur and professional cyclists alike and has been made famous by the legends of the Giro d’ Italia.The climb rises from 1225m to the ‘Cima Coppi’ at 2758m, the second highest paved road in Europe. Today you will face Passo dello Stelvio. You will climb the famous Stelvio, "attack this mountain with respect". The climb has 48 switchbacks to tackle.. The Passo dello Stelvio ascent is 22km (13.7 Miles) long with 1533 height meters (5029ft). The average percentage is 7.1 %. The top is on 2757m (9045ft). Relax on top before you descend all the way down to Bormio. Back in the Hotel you can use all the wellness facilities of Grand Hotel Bagni Nuovi and in the evening try one of the typical Lombardy specialities in the à la carte restaurant. Dinner included

Day 3 Tuesday 

Bormio – Cancano – Le Motte- Bormio

Cancano Lake Loop ride DISTANCE: 40 km (24 miles) Climbing meters 1030mts. One of the most beautiful and underrated climbs in the area! The first 5 km are relatively flat before you will climb 8km up to the Torri di Friale - . The views are spectacular with two old medieval lookout towers. The first 4km going up to through the valley before you reach a picnic area. The following 4kms to the top are climbing up with some switchbacks. From the top the views are stunning. Relax on top for the re-grouping before descending back to Bormio. You will overlook the beautiful Lago di Cancano. Dinner will be around 20.00 at Grand Hotel Bagni Nuovi.

Day 4 Wednesday

Bormio-Mortirolo-Gavia-Bormio Total distance 115km ( 71 miles) – Climbing meters 3200mts. After the Passo dello Stelvio, you will face Passo Mortirolo and Passo di Gavia. Surprisingly, the much lower (1852m-6076ft) Passo Mortirolo is actually harder than the ones you have done the last two days. The Passo Mortirolo is considered as the hardest climb in Italy. Some will say that this huge monster is the “Queen climb of the European Alps”. You leave the hotel through the valley and the start of the climb is in Mazzo di Valtelina. The climb will be 12.5km (7.5 miles) long with some 1300 height meters (4265ft) to attack. After a break on top you go down. The next one is already waiting for you! The legendary Gavia pass belongs to one of the highest paved mountain passes in the Alps. The Gavia has a high summit of 2621 meters (8700ft). The mountain became famous in 1988. On the fifth of June the Giro d’Italia passed the Gavia summit in a snowstorm. The stage was one of the most heroic stages ever in de Giro d’Italia and was won by the Dutchman Eric Breukink. The route is very steep and narrow and it takes a lot of effort to conquer the Gavia. The ascent of today's climb to Passo di Gavia is 17.3km (10.75 miles) long and an average percentage of 7.9% Good luck! Dinner at Grand Hotel Bagni Nuovi around 20.00 pm.

Day 5 Thursday

Evening mass ride! New for 2016 - Every Thursday there will be an Evening Ride up the Passo di Gavia or Cancanono (depending on the weather). Climbing a mountain pass under the stars is a truly unique cycling experience! The Evening Ride includes kit bag transport to the top for your warm clothes, photographs of your achievement, lights for your bike, van support and of course guides to ride with you.

After indulging a delicious breakfast buffet you will pedal your last cycling day in the stunning region of the Italian Alps. First the route goes down through the valley before reaching the village of Tirano. After the roundabout near the "Basilica" you arrive at the Swiss border. From here you take the road up to the Bernina Pass (2323m- 7621ft). The hard climb covers 38km (23.50 miles) to conquer! You will ride through a beautiful green uncontaminated valley between majestic Alp ranges. Almost on top you meet the road to Passo Forcola. Here you go down to a small lake nearby Livigno. From the resort town of Livigno you will ride over two small passes Eira & Foscgno before you start the decent back to our hotel in Bormio. Total distance 123km (76.50 miles). Dinner will be provided when not riding the Mass evening event.

Day 6 Friday

Departure day…..Time to say goodbye a good flight back home or else a pleasant stay in Italy. If you require an airport transfer to Milan Linate/Malpensa or the train station in Tirano please contact us

Airport/ Train Information 5 **** Italian Alps

The most important gateways to the the Italian Alps are the airports of Milan

Milan has three important airports; the most important airport is Milan Malpensa, from here many flights leave /arrive worldwide. There are many regular flights to/ from Madrid, Brussels, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Berlin, Rome, London Heathrow, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Athens, Zurich and more very important cities from all around the Globe.

The second airport is Milan Linate which has a lot of domestic and European flights to all important cities in Europe. There is a shuttle bus connecting Malpensa with Linate Airport. The ride between the two airports takes more than an hour.

The third airport is Bergamo Airport (officially Orio al Serio International Airport) and is northeast of Milan, close to the city of Bergamo. This airport is especially used by budget companies like Ryanair.

From Milan Malpensa Airport to Milan Central station are Malpensa Shuttle busses departing: every 30 to 60 minutes Length: 1 hour.
From Milan Linate International Airport to Milan Central station busses departing every 30 minutes Length: 20 minutes. 

Bergamo Airport has no direct train connection, but there is a shuttle bus that takes you to the station in Bergamo.
